Cousteau wrote many books describing his undersea explorations. He was a French naval officer, oceanographer, filmmaker and author. He co-invented the first successful Aqua-Lung, open-circuit SCUBA (self-contained underwater breathing apparatus). The apparatus assisted him in producing some of the first underwater documentaries.
I designed the watch to follow the legacy of the famous man. The design of the watch is partly inspired by the Straton curve chrono watch, which I find attractive in its design. Straton curve chrono is a multifunctional watch, but my concept is focused purely on diving. The design of the dial is inspired by omega seamaster diving watches, the waves are more complicated in my version - they overlap in different heights. The peculiarity of this design is that the rotating bezel is closed under the glass. Time and bezel settings are centralized in the crown. For this reason, I did not implement the days of the week in the date window. From a technical point of view, the days of the week would not fit into the crown function. I made the watch in different color variants, but each color combination offers good readability of the time.
